Antonette is amazing! She is engaging and thorough in her skills sessions. Our individual sessions are so helpful as well. She validates my feelings and helps me to understand them even when I can’t always articulate them clearly!

Therapies Antonette Utilizes In Session
-
GearingUP DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
The skills-based system and emotional regulation strategies in DBT were found to be almost universally helpful to clients looking to regain control of their thoughts and emotions. Much like CBT, researchers have shown that DBT is also effective for virtually any type of client – ages 7-60+, all genders and sexual orientations, all races and ethnicities, and more.
-
GearingUP CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT has been proven to be effective for many of the most common mental health issues, and the results have been easily replicated with different clients and different therapists time and time again. The combination of clear structure, easy implementation, and effective skills usage outside of the therapy office has made CBT the first choice of many therapists for decades.
-
GearingUP Mindfulness
Mindfulness Based Therapies
A regular practice of mindfulness meditation every day could lead to significant benefits for practitioners in terms of mental clarity and focus, stress reduction, emotional calm, and much more. Researchers even found physical benefits like lower blood pressure, increased body awareness, decreased pain, increased immunity, and decreased chance of heart disease and other chronic illnesses.

Antonette Anuwe Reviews
Gearing up has been nothing but amazing to me and my family for a long time now. I’ve personally worked with Antonette for personal sessions along with skills classes for over a year now. My depression and anxiety are minimal and I process daily stress better than I ever expected to. I would highly recommend her to anyone I can!
Antonette is absolutely wonderful and has provided great care since I have started seeing her. She is very personable, intelligent and this is shown in her practice.
I see Antonette for DBT skills and individual therapy and she is excellent! She is interactive in her skills sessions and always wants to make sure I understand the content. I feel heard and validated in my individual sessions. She is always present and focused on our time together during our sessions which is so helpful as I don’t want to feel like I am talking to myself or the wall, if that makes sense! She is so kind and I trust her guidance and expertise in everything she is teaching me and that we discuss!
Antonette has been an incredible therapist to work with. From the very beginning, she created a space where I felt safe, heard, and never judged. She has a calm and grounding presence that made it easier for me to open up about things I normally struggle to talk about.
What I appreciated most about working with her is how thoughtful and patient she is. She listens deeply and asks questions that really help you reflect and understand yourself better, rather than just giving surface-level advice. Even during difficult conversations, she always approached things with kindness and compassion.
Antonette truly cares about the people she works with, and it shows in the way she supports you through the process. I’m really grateful for the time I had working with her and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist who is empathetic, professional, and genuinely invested in helping you grow.
I’ve had a really positive experience at Gearing Up Counseling, especially working with Antonette as my skills counselor. Her teaching style has been such a great fit for me.
I’m someone who takes a lot of notes to make sure I fully understand what I’m learning, and Antonette is always patient and supportive throughout that process. I never feel rushed or dismissed…she truly wants to make sure I’m following and not missing anything.
She’s kind, caring, and thoughtful in how she teaches. What I appreciate most is how she takes the time to help me understand how to apply the skills we learn to real-life situations, not just in theory. That has made a huge difference for me.
I’m very grateful for the support and guidance she provides and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, effective skills counselor.
