Grief counseling in McKinney

Grief can touch every part of life: sleep, focus, relationships, and your sense of who you are. It does not follow a schedule, and there is no right way to do it. Sometimes it helps to have a steady place to talk about the person or the life you have lost, and to find ways through the hardest days.

Our McKinney office offers grief counseling for adults, teens and families from McKinney, Allen, Fairview, Prosper, Frisco and Melissa, in person on Eldorado Parkway or online.

Your McKinney therapists for grief and loss

Both of our McKinney clinicians list grief and loss among their areas of experience, and both work with teens and adults. Jill Kalis also works with children and families.

How grief counseling works at GearingUP

Grief counseling gives you room to talk about your loss at your own pace, without being rushed toward “moving on”. Your therapist helps you understand what you are feeling, find ways through the waves of grief and the triggers that bring them on, and keep a meaningful connection to the person you lost.

Sessions can also help with what comes with grief: trouble sleeping, anxiety, low mood, guilt, or strain in relationships. When a loss was sudden or traumatic, your therapist can include trauma-informed care. Families can come in together to support each other, including children who are grieving in their own way.

McKinney Reviews

Maggie’s consistent instruction in the DBT skills has been a big part of our daughter’s therapy journey. We are happy she is part of our team.

Tammera and Yazmin have both been amazing therapists for me. I’ve been with Tammera for a couple years and Yazmin has been an amazing addition to this clinic. Tammera is incredibly knowledgeable, listens without judgement, and I have learned so much in my sessions with her. I’ve only been with Yazmin for a few months, but she is kind, intelligent, and I leave my sessions with her feeling more at ease about life. I highly recommend both of them and this clinic!
