Usually I've had to just randomly choose a name from the last of insurance approved providers and cross my fingers that they're a good fit. GearingUp was the first time I've had a different experience, and I loved it.
I cannot say thank you enough to Gearing up and especially to Melissa. When my little one started experiencing some anxiety it was heart breaking. I thought he was never going to be the happy boy he was, before this started. He loves Melissa and actually looks forward for his appointments. He calls them play dates. I came in in crisis, trying to figure out what I wanted to do about the situation. June taught me that I had several options and I got to choose which one I wanted. She taught me that I was responsible for my feelings, not others. She taught me how to say/ask for what I want, in non-confrontational ways. Most importantly she taught me about being in the moment and many ways to do that. Time well spent with June learning things I had not learned in 65 years. Going out with new attitude, confidence and skills.

Sylvia Gearing is a top notch psychologist in DFW with so much expertise in DBT. She continues to get training and research - so every time you see her, she has even more stuff. Most of her therapists are top notch as well. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Sylvia gearing is a super expert in DBT and is 2nd only to Marcia Linehan herself. And she hires the best therapists for her practice. I went through the modules of mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills. I found the modules of mindfulness and distress tolerance skills helped me calm myself down in a crisis, and I made big gains in my testing after I went through the emotional regulation module. My mother notices that my emotional regulation has greatly improved. Where other talk therapy to uncover childhood traumas and behavioral therapy had little success, DBT helped me right away by teaching me actionable skills that changed my brain chemistry and neural pathways, instead of rehashing my past or present.
The professionalism of all the people at Gearing Up is amazing. Dr. Gearing is suberb. She listened and applied her kniw ledge to truly help me. I was able to see June on a regular basis and was thrilled with he capabilities. I learn alot about myself and methods for self improvement. I high reccomend this organization and further encourage you to start an journey that will be greatly beneficial.

I just came back to gearing up after going there a couple of years ago. I cannot believe how good my experience was this time. I just saw my new counselor for the first time yesterday. Her name is Alisha Garcia . She is quite a bit younger than me but isn't everyone. I was so pleased with her counseling it was like talking to my best friend except better because she gives true good counseling advice. I am looking so forward to seeing her again .I truly think this is a match made in well made in heaven I guess. Mrs. Gearing did a wonderful job picking this counselor out for me! Gearing Up has been such an amazing help for my teenage daughter. Initially I was worried about the expense of the personality testing but I am so glad we did it! They were able to give us a very affordable payment plan option and help her with her core issues. She learned to identify the feelings she was having and started opening up to her therapist and to me! I definitely recommend this group of awesome professionals for helping teens. Our experience was great once we surrendered to letting them develop the treatment plan.

Melissa is perhaps one of the most kind and warm individual I've ever met. I cannot begun to describe the progress she's helped me make through this journey called life. Anxiety is a very real thing that can be crippling in many cases' but Melissa taught me how to overcome and persevere. The strength to do so comes from within, but a guiding hand is sometimes what it takes to realize one's true potential.
I have only been coming to Gearing Up for a couple of weeks so I don't have a long history with them yet.
