Reanna Claiborne, LPC Associate

Bright, spirited, and incredibly warm, Reanna Claiborne embraces each therapy session with a sincerity and skill that is not only uncommon, but demonstrates her passion for helping others. Her obvious dedication to meeting each client where they are and joining with them in their therapy journey are gifts that she gives to each client at Gearing Up. She is unwavering in her singular focus to understand where her clients are and where they need to go to heal, to improve and to evolve into the best version of who they are meant to be.

Reanna brings core strengths to her practice including a solid education in counseling with a specialty in marriage and family therapy. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate education degrees at Southeastern Louisiana University. Her professional background includes working with children who had been abused and exploited and helping them and their families find resources for recovery. She has worked in addiction wellness centers, in child advocacy centers, on crisis teams, and she has completed extensive training at the counseling center for her home university, Southeastern Louisiana.

Reanna works with all ages and especially enjoys working with individuals and families. She is extremely passionate about working with trauma and trauma recovery. Understanding the agony of trauma and the lasting scars it leaves behind, she is dedicated to helping trauma survivors escape the unending cycle of suffering from their pasts. Armed with the latest tools and the best practices from Neuroscience, Psychology, and the Counseling field, Reanna approaches every therapy session with a singular devotion to helping the client move forward, one step at a time.

• Dialectical Behavior Therapy – Dialectical Behavior Therapy both in formal training (20 hours of advanced DBT training) and in weekly supervision with senior DBT therapists. Reanna is also participating in Dr. Gearing’s well known DBT group program.
• Complex Trauma Certification – Reanna is completing her training and certification in Complex trauma and is studying the work of internationally renowned psychologist and author, Janina Fisher, Ph.D. Dr. Fisher was one of the first psychologists in the country who began studying and treating trauma. She is a former instructor at Harvard Medical School. Upon completion of this prestigious program, Reanna will be a Certified Complex Trauma Treatment Level Two Professional and an expert in the treatment of Complex Trauma.
